What can the steaming function be used for and can I cook rice and steam veg/meat at the same time?

The steaming feature on the can be used for steaming veg, meat/fish, dumplings – anything really. You can either do this while the rice is cooking or you can use the unit separately as a steamer.

If you steam while cooking rice then the maximum amount of rice recommended to cook is as follows :

Panda - 1 cup

Kumo - 1 cup

Sakura, Bamboo - 3 cups

Fuji - 2 cups

NS-TSQ10, NS-AAQ10 - 2 cups

NS-TSQ18, NS-AAQ18 - 4 cups

There is a maximum number of cups you can steam because the rice expanding during the cooking cycle may cause the steaming basket to push the lid open.

Note that the NS-LAQ05, NL-BGQ05, NS-YSQ10, NS-YSQ18 do not have steaming baskets / steam function.
