I have found cheaper Hom Mali rice. Is it genuine?

We are proud to offer some of the best-value authentic Thai Hom Mali Jasmine rice available in the UK and Europe.

However, when it comes to Hom Mali rice, price can be an important indicator of authenticity.

Not all Jasmine rice is Thai Hom Mali

Thai Hom Mali is a specific, protected grade of Jasmine rice. Genuine Hom Mali rice is subject to strict Thai government standards and certification, and the cost of authentic Hom Mali rice is influenced by the official Thai rice market and export requirements.

This means that exceptionally cheap rice being sold as "Thai Hom Mali" should be treated with caution. In many cases, it may simply be ordinary Jasmine rice being marketed as Hom Mali, rather than genuine certified Hom Mali rice.

How can you check if it's authentic?

One of the easiest things to look for is the official Thai Hom Mali certification seal on the packaging.

However, the seal isn't the only way to establish authenticity. If you are unsure about a product, ask the brand or supplier for evidence of its provenance and certification, such as:

  • Thai Hom Mali certification

  • Phytosanitary certification

  • Official certification or registration numbers

  • Relevant local Thai certifications

  • Documentation demonstrating inspection by the Thai Department of Foreign Trade

  • Evidence that the rice meets the required Hom Mali purity standard

Our rice is 100% Hom Mali

Our Thai Hom Mali Jasmine rice meets the 100% purity standard.

We take the authenticity and quality of our rice seriously. We do not substitute lower-grade Jasmine rice and we will never label a product as Thai Hom Mali unless it has been certified as such.

We have the relevant certification and supporting documentation available on request should you wish to verify the provenance and certification of our rice.

Don't just look at the word "Jasmine" on the bag – look for genuine Thai Hom Mali certification.
