Do your rice cooker inner bowls contain any toxic substances?

Our Yum Asia inner cooking bowls are manufactured using materials selected to meet the applicable food-contact safety and regulatory requirements for the markets in which our products are sold.

The materials and coatings used in our inner bowls are subject to appropriate safety and compliance requirements, including those applicable to electrical and food-related products. Our products are manufactured to meet the relevant standards and regulations for their intended markets.

Our inner bowls do not contain intentionally added lead or cadmium in the materials or coatings used for food-contact purposes. These substances are subject to strict regulatory restrictions, particularly in products intended for food preparation.

The coatings and materials used in our Yum Asia inner bowls are also BPA-, PTFE-, PFA- and PFOA-free, and the food-contact surfaces are not Teflon-based.

It is worth noting that different manufacturers use different coating technologies. Zojirushi inner bowls use Sumiflon, a fluoropolymer-based non-stick coating. When used as intended in a rice cooker, such coatings are designed to operate within the temperatures and conditions for which the appliance was manufactured.

As with any coated cookware, the inner bowl should be treated carefully to avoid damaging the coating. We recommend using the appropriate plastic or silicone utensils supplied or recommended for use with the cooker and avoiding sharp or abrasive objects that could scratch or damage the surface.

Food safety is an important consideration in the design and manufacture of our products, and we ensure that the materials used in our inner bowls are selected and tested in accordance with the applicable requirements for their intended use.
