What is the best way to wash the rice cooker inner bowl?
With proper care, your Yum Asia inner bowl should provide many years of reliable use. The inner bowl is an important part of the rice cooker, and following the care instructions below will help protect both the ceramic coating and the structure of the bowl.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in premature wear, damage to the ceramic coating or, in some circumstances, damage to the bowl itself.
In the rare event that an inner bowl has a manufacturing fault, this will normally become apparent within the first few months of use. However, damage caused by incorrect cleaning, unsuitable utensils or misuse is avoidable, so please take particular care to follow these instructions.
𧽠1. HAND WASH ONLY
Never put the inner bowl in a dishwasher.
For normal cleaning, you should only need to wipe the bowl with a soft, damp cloth or paper towel after use.
If food has become stuck or dried onto the surface:
Add some warm water to the bowl.
Allow it to soak until the food has softened.
Gently wipe the bowl clean using a soft cloth or sponge.
Do not use strong cleaning chemicals, scouring powders, abrasive cleaners or abrasive sponges. These can damage or prematurely wear the ceramic coating.
Never attempt to remove stubborn food by aggressively scrubbing or scraping the surface.
π΄ 2. USE ONLY SUITABLE UTENSILS
Always use non-abrasive utensils when stirring, serving or removing food from the bowl.
Suitable utensils include:
Silicone utensils
Plastic utensils
Wooden utensils
Never use metal utensils inside the inner bowl. Metal edges can scratch or chip the ceramic coating, particularly when used with force.
Before using any utensil, check that it does not have sharp, rough or damaged edges that could come into contact with the bowl.
Never scrape the bowl with a utensil to remove food.
Even small scratches can gradually damage the coating and may become more noticeable with continued use.
π 3. NEVER WASH RICE DIRECTLY IN THE INNER BOWL
One of the most important things you can do to protect your inner bowl is to never wash or rinse rice directly inside it.
It is common practice to put rice and water into the cooking bowl and stir the rice to wash it. However, the combination of rice, water and vigorous movement can be surprisingly abrasive. Over time, this can contribute to wear of the ceramic coating.
If you need to wash or rinse your rice before cooking, always use a separate rice-washing bowl or other suitable container.
Once the rice has been washed, transfer it carefully into the Yum Asia inner bowl.
