Can I put the inner bowl and/or inner lid in the dishwasher?

The inner bowl and inner lid should always be washed by hand. Do not place either component in a dishwasher, even if the dishwasher manufacturer or a particular dishwasher cycle suggests that it is suitable.

If necessary, you can soak the inner bowl or inner lid to loosen any food or residue. Then wash them gently using a soft sponge or soft cloth and a mild washing-up detergent.

The reason for avoiding a dishwasher is that the combination of high temperatures, strong detergents and powerful water jets can be too harsh for the components and, in particular, the coating on the inner bowl. Repeated dishwasher use can damage or deteriorate the coating, and in some circumstances even a single dishwasher cycle may be enough to cause damage.

There is also no need to use the harsh cleaning environment of a dishwasher. Our inner bowls and lids are designed to make cleaning straightforward, and food should generally release easily with a simple hand wash.

Taking a few moments to hand wash these components will help keep them in good condition and extend the life of your rice cooker.
