Can I cook rice pudding in a rice cooker?
Yes! You can make rice pudding using a Yum Asia rice cooker, and the type of rice you use will determine which cooking function you should select.
You can use either:
White long-grain rice — use the long-grain rice cooking function.
White short-grain rice — use the short-grain rice cooking function.
How to cook rice pudding
The important point is that you should cook the rice in water first and only add the milk after the rice has finished cooking.
Add the rice and the required amount of water to the inner bowl.
Select the appropriate LONG GRAIN or SHORT GRAIN rice function, depending on the rice you are using.
Allow the rice cooking cycle to complete.
Once cooking has finished, add the milk and other ingredients according to the recipe.
Mix thoroughly and follow the remaining instructions in the recipe for your particular model.
DO NOT COOK THE RICE IN MILK.
Adding milk before or during the rice cooking cycle can cause excessive foaming and increase the risk of boiling over or overflowing through the steam vent. It can also make the inner bowl and steam components considerably more difficult to clean.
