Do Yum Asia rice cookers play a tune at the end of cooking?

Yum Asia brand rice cookers use a 5-beep alert to let you know when the cooking cycle has finished. Where applicable, the rice cooker will then automatically switch to KEEP WARM.

Unlike some rice cookers, Yum Asia models do not play a musical tune at the end of the cooking cycle. Instead, we use a simple 5-beep alert to clearly indicate that cooking has finished without introducing unnecessary or potentially intrusive sounds.

Our main engineering focus throughout the development of our rice cookers has been cooking rice exceptionally well, consistently and reliably. We believe this is far more important than adding features simply for the sake of having them.

While some customers may initially enjoy a musical tune, we have found that these sounds can become annoying when a rice cooker is used regularly. In our experience, many customers ultimately choose to disable this type of feature when it is available.

For this reason, we have opted for a clear, simple and unobtrusive 5-beep alert rather than a musical tune. It provides a clear indication that cooking has finished while allowing us to keep our engineering focus where it matters most: consistently excellent rice cooking.
