The outside of my Hotaru Joubu bowl has speckles / spots. Is it defective?
You may notice that the outside of your Joubu inner bowl has a speckled or mottled appearance. This is completely normal and is not a defect.
The exterior of Joubu bowls has a speckled painted finish that is created as part of the manufacturing process. Because of the nature of this coating process, the exact appearance can vary slightly from bowl to bowl.
Why Does Every Bowl Look Slightly Different?
The speckled effect is produced through a natural variation in the application of the exterior coating. As a result, you may notice differences in:
The size and shape of individual speckles
The density of the speckling
The distribution of the pattern across the bowl
The overall appearance of the finish
These variations are expected characteristics of the Joubu bowl and do not indicate damage, poor quality or a manufacturing fault.
Does It Affect Performance?
No. The speckled appearance is purely a characteristic of the exterior finish and does not affect the cooking performance, durability or operation of the bowl.
The bowl is manufactured to the required specifications, and the variation in the exterior coating is simply part of the way the Joubu finish is produced.
Please Don't Be Concerned
If your Joubu bowl looks slightly different from the bowl shown in product photographs, or from another Joubu bowl you may have seen, this is normal.
Every Joubu bowl will have its own subtle variation in the speckled finish, making each one slightly unique.
So, if you notice a speckled or uneven-looking pattern on the outside of your Joubu inner bowl, there is no need to contact us for a replacement — this is an intentional characteristic of the coating and is not a defect.
