My Hotaru rice cooker is stuck on keep warm or cooking and won't turn off. What do I do?
All of our rice cookers have a built-in memory function designed to help the cooker remember its operating state in the event of a temporary power interruption.
Because of this feature, you may occasionally find that the cooker does not behave as expected if it has been unplugged during cooking or while the Keep Warm function is active, particularly if the cooking cycle was not properly cancelled first.
How to Reset the Cooker
If this happens, the first thing to try is a simple reset:
Make sure the cooker is plugged in and powered.
Press and hold the CANCEL button for several seconds.
On models where a normal press is sufficient, press the CANCEL button to clear the previous programme.
Once the previous cooking or Keep Warm state has been cancelled, select your desired programme and start the cooker again.
The important point is that you should cancel the current programme rather than simply unplugging the cooker whenever possible.
Why Does This Happen?
The memory function is there to help protect against interruptions such as a temporary power cut. However, if the cooker is deliberately unplugged while it is operating and the programme has not been cancelled, it may retain information about the previous cooking state when power is restored.
A CANCEL operation clears this state and allows you to start a new cooking cycle normally.
