My Bamboo Joubu bowl has marks or bubbles on the outside of it, is this normal?
Yes! The textured appearance on the outside of the Joubu inner bowl is completely normal and is not a manufacturing fault.
Joubu uses a special textured outer coating, and the slightly uneven or granular appearance is a characteristic of this particular coating.
The texture is partly related to the special material and surface treatment required for the bowl's Induction Heating (IH) system. It also reflects the natural materials and manufacturing processes used to produce the bowl.
What Should the Joubu Bowl Look Like?
The outside of the Joubu bowl may therefore appear:
Textured or slightly granular
Uneven rather than perfectly smooth
Slightly bobbled in places
Different in appearance from a conventional smooth metal bowl
These characteristics are intentional and expected.
The textured surface is an inherent characteristic of the bowl's construction and does not indicate damage, poor manufacturing or a defect. It does not affect the bowl's performance or its ability to cook rice correctly.
So, if your Joubu bowl has a textured or slightly uneven outer coating, this is exactly what you should expect it to look like.
