I don't understand the Hotaru capacity
Fuji has two different capacity ratings because it is designed to work both as a dedicated rice cooker and as a versatile multicooker.
Fuji has a 0.54-litre / 3-cup rice-cooking capacity and a 0.9-litre multicooking capacity.
These measurements refer to different uses of the inner bowl, so the rice-cooking capacity should not be confused with the maximum volume available for multicooking.
0.54 Litres / 3 Cups of Rice
Fuji has a 0.54-litre rice-cooking capacity, which is equivalent to 3 rice-cooker cups of uncooked white rice.
Our rice-cooker measuring cup is based on 180ml, so approximately:
1 cup of uncooked rice = 180ml / approximately 180g
3 cups of uncooked white rice = approximately 540ml / 540g
Maximum white rice capacity = 3 cups
Maximum brown rice capacity = 2 cups
Brown rice has a lower maximum capacity because it absorbs water differently and expands differently during cooking compared with white rice. The additional space allows the brown rice to absorb water and expand properly without overfilling the cooking bowl.
For example, if you want to cook 1 cup of white rice, this is approximately 180g of uncooked rice. At Fuji's maximum capacity of 3 cups, you can cook approximately 540g (0.54kg) of uncooked white rice.
0.9-Litre Multicooking Capacity
Fuji also has a 0.9-litre multicooking capacity.
This refers to the maximum volume that the inner bowl can accommodate when using Fuji's multicooking functions, rather than its rice-cooking capacity.
The 0.9-litre figure therefore refers to liquid/food capacity for multicooking, while the 0.54-litre / 3-cup figure refers specifically to rice cooking.
