I don't understand Bamboo capacity

Bamboo Rice Cooker Capacity Explained

Bamboo has two different capacity ratings because it is designed to function both as a dedicated rice cooker and as a versatile multicooker.

Bamboo has a 1.5-litre / 8-cup rice-cooking capacity and a 3.3-litre multicooking capacity.

These figures refer to two different uses of the inner bowl, so it is important not to confuse the rice-cooking capacity with the maximum multicooking volume.

1.5 Litres / 8 Cups of Rice

Bamboo has a 1.5-litre rice-cooking capacity, which is equivalent to 8 rice-cooker cups of uncooked white rice.

Yum Asia rice-cooker measuring cups are based on 180ml, so approximately:

  • 1 cup of uncooked rice = 180ml / approximately 180g

  • 8 cups of uncooked white rice = approximately 1,440ml / 1.44kg

  • Maximum white rice capacity = 8 cups

  • Maximum brown rice capacity = 6 cups

Brown rice has a lower maximum capacity because it absorbs water differently and expands more during cooking than white rice. The additional space allows the brown rice to cook and expand properly without overfilling the bowl.

For example, if you want to cook 1 cup of white rice, this is approximately 180g of uncooked rice. At Bamboo's maximum capacity of 8 cups, you can cook approximately 1.44kg of uncooked white rice.

Note: The 8-cup capacity refers to the amount of uncooked rice measured using the supplied rice cup. It does not mean that the finished cooked rice occupies only 1.5 litres.

3.3-Litre Multicooking Capacity

Bamboo also has a 3.3-litre multicooking capacity.

This refers to the maximum volume that the inner bowl can accommodate when using Bamboo's multicooking functions, rather than its rice-cooking capacity.

The 3.3-litre figure therefore relates to multicooking and liquid capacity, while the 1.5-litre / 8-cup figure specifically relates to rice cooking.
