How does Fuji cook the rice, is it boiled?
No. Fuji does not simply boil rice. It is an advanced Induction Heating (IH) rice cooker incorporating our UMAIi Advanced Fuzzy Logic cooking technology, which continuously controls and adjusts the cooking process rather than simply applying heat until the water boils.
A basic rice cooker essentially heats the contents until the water reaches boiling point and then switches to another mode. Fuji takes a much more sophisticated approach. It uses a carefully controlled, multi-stage cooking process in which temperature, heating intensity and cooking time are adjusted throughout the cycle.
Seven distinct cooking phases
Fuji uses at least seven distinct phases during its rice-cooking process:
Preheat – Fuji gently warms the rice and water to establish the ideal starting conditions.
Absorb Water – The rice begins absorbing water as the temperature is carefully controlled.
Heating – The temperature is progressively increased to prepare the rice for the main cooking stage.
Boiling – The water reaches boiling point and the rice undergoes its main cooking phase.
Braising – Fuji carefully controls the temperature and cooking conditions to allow the rice to continue developing its texture and flavour.
Absorb Water – The rice continues to absorb remaining moisture, helping to achieve the desired final texture.
Keep Warm – Once cooking is complete, Fuji transitions into its Keep Warm phase, maintaining the rice at a suitable serving temperature.
The important point is that these phases are not simply seven different names for boiling. Fuji changes the temperature and heating behaviour throughout the cooking cycle according to the selected rice programme.
Why phased cooking matters
Rice changes considerably throughout the cooking process. It needs to absorb water gradually, heat to the appropriate temperatures, cook thoroughly and then settle before being served.
Fuji's UMAIi Advanced Fuzzy Logic technology allows the cooker to manage these changes automatically. Rather than relying on a simple fixed-temperature programme, the cooker can make adjustments during the cooking cycle to help compensate for differences in the rice and cooking conditions.
This controlled, phased approach is a key reason why rice cooked in Fuji can have a noticeably different texture, consistency and flavour from rice cooked using a basic conventional rice cooker.
The carefully managed cooking process is also designed to help retain the natural qualities and nutrients of the rice by using controlled temperatures and cooking stages rather than unnecessarily aggressive heating.
