What types of rice can I cook in Kotori?
We designed Kotori primarily as a rice cooker, with great-tasting rice at the heart of its design. Despite its compact size, Kotori is designed to cook a variety of rice types, with three dedicated rice programmes that allow the cooking process to be matched to the type of rice you're preparing.
Kotori's Rice Cooking Options
Kotori has the following dedicated rice programmes:
LONG GRAIN
The LONG GRAIN function is designed for long-grain white rice, including:
Basmati
Jasmine
Thai fragrant rice
Other long-grain white rice varieties
This programme is designed to provide the appropriate cooking conditions for long-grain rice, helping to produce well-cooked, fluffy grains with the right texture.
SHORT GRAIN
The SHORT GRAIN function is designed for white short-grain rice varieties, including:
Pearl rice
Sushi rice
Thai sticky rice
Other short-grain white rice varieties
Short-grain rice has different characteristics from long-grain rice, particularly in how it absorbs water and develops its texture during cooking. The dedicated programme allows Kotori to use cooking conditions better suited to these varieties.
BROWN
The BROWN function is designed for both long- and short-grain brown rice.
Brown rice retains its outer bran layer, meaning that it absorbs water and cooks differently from white rice. Kotori's dedicated Brown programme is therefore designed to provide the longer and more appropriate cooking conditions required by brown rice.
A Compact Cooker With Dedicated Rice Programmes
Although Kotori is a mini donburi-style rice cooker, we didn't compromise on its primary purpose.
Whether you're cooking fragrant jasmine rice, basmati, sushi rice, Thai sticky rice or brown rice, Kotori provides a dedicated programme designed around the characteristics of the rice you're preparing.
Three rice types, three dedicated programmes – all designed with great-tasting rice as Kotori's primary focus.
