What is the Tsuki inner bowl made from?
Tsuki's SHINSEI Solid Ceramic Inner Bowl
During our many years of selling and supporting Zojirushi rice cookers, we noticed something that kept coming up in conversations with customers: the inner bowls supplied with virtually all rice cookers available in the UK, Europe and USA used Teflon or similar non-stick coatings.
We listened to the questions and feedback from our customers and decided that we wanted to offer something different.
Rather than simply using another conventional coated inner bowl, we developed Tsuki around a thick, 5mm solid ceramic inner bowl – our SHINSEI bowl.
5mm Solid Ceramic Construction
The SHINSEI inner bowl is made from 5mm-thick solid ceramic, providing a substantial and durable cooking vessel designed for everyday use.
Unlike a thin metal bowl that relies on a conventional non-stick coating, the SHINSEI bowl's cooking surface is ceramic throughout. This gives Tsuki a distinctive alternative for customers who specifically want a rice cooker with a solid ceramic inner bowl rather than a conventional coated non-stick bowl.
The result is a bowl that feels substantial, is hard wearing and is designed to withstand the demands of regular rice cooking.
BPA, PTFE and PFAS Free
The SHINSEI ceramic bowl is designed without BPA, PTFE or PFAS, including PFOA and PFOS.
This was an important consideration when developing Tsuki. We wanted to create a rice cooker that offered customers an alternative to the conventional non-stick inner bowls that were so common across the market.
The SHINSEI bowl therefore provides a ceramic cooking surface without relying on PTFE-based non-stick materials.
Honeycomb Heat Distribution
The SHINSEI bowl also incorporates a special honeycomb structure within its design.
This structure helps to distribute heat across the surface of the bowl, encouraging more even heat dispersion during cooking.
Even heat distribution is particularly important when cooking rice because it helps the rice cooker maintain a more consistent cooking environment throughout the bowl. Combined with Tsuki's heating system, the SHINSEI bowl is designed to help deliver evenly cooked rice and other dishes.
Easy-to-Read Measurement Lines
Getting the water-to-rice ratio right is an important part of consistently good rice cooking, so we paid particular attention to the measurement markings on the SHINSEI bowl.
Rather than using stamped measurement lines, the bowl features silk-printed rice and water level markings.
These markings are designed to be:
Easy to read
Clear and precise
Hard wearing
Easier to see in lower-light kitchen conditions
This means you can quickly identify the correct water level without having to rely on measuring cups or guesswork.
Why We Created SHINSEI
The SHINSEI bowl came directly from listening to our customers.
After years of selling rice cookers and answering customer questions about inner bowl materials, we recognised that many people wanted an alternative to the conventional Teflon or similar non-stick coated bowls found throughout the market.
Rather than simply accepting that as the industry norm, we decided to create our own alternative.
Tsuki's 5mm solid ceramic SHINSEI inner bowl is the result – combining a substantial ceramic construction, a specialised honeycomb structure for heat distribution, clear measurement markings and a BPA, PTFE and PFAS-free cooking surface.
SHINSEI isn't just an inner bowl. It's one of the key features that makes Tsuki different.
