The Kumo condensation collector does not fit correctly.
If you notice that the condensation collector on your Kumo is leaking slightly during use, this can occasionally happen as a result of the manufacturing process.
The plastic condensation collector can sometimes have a very slight variation in shape, which means it may not sit as snugly against the body of the cooker as intended. This can allow a small amount of condensation to escape.
Fortunately, this can usually be corrected quite easily.
How to Reshape the Condensation Collector
You can gently adjust the shape of the collector so that it fits more closely against the Kumo body:
Remove the condensation collector from the rice cooker.
Using a hairdryer, gently warm the plastic for a short period. Do not overheat it – you only need to make the plastic slightly more pliable.
While the plastic is warm, gently flex the collector outwards by a very small amount.
Hold it in the adjusted position while it cools.
Once completely cool, refit the collector to Kumo and check that it now sits more snugly against the cooker body.
The slight reshaping should help the collector maintain a better fit and reduce or eliminate the small leak.
Take Care When Heating the Plastic
The adjustment only requires a small amount of reshaping. Do not use excessive heat or force, as this could deform or damage the collector.
A hairdryer is sufficient – do not use a heat gun or other high-temperature heat source.
Once the collector has cooled and been refitted, it should sit more securely against the Kumo body and be better able to collect the condensation produced during cooking.
