My rice cooker is not starting when I press START or stopping when I press CANCEL

If your cooker isn't starting a cooking programme or you are having difficulty cancelling a programme, the most likely reason is the long-press safety function.

The touch-sensitive control panel is designed to prevent the cooker from being accidentally activated or cancelled by an unintended touch. This means that the START and CANCEL controls require a deliberate press and hold.

COOKER NOT STARTING

If the cooker doesn't appear to start when you press START, make sure you are pressing and holding the START button, rather than simply tapping it.

You need to:

Press and hold the START button for at least 3 seconds.

After approximately three seconds, the cooker should recognise the command and begin the selected cooking programme.

This is an intentional safety feature. Because the control panel is touch-sensitive, a simple touch could otherwise potentially activate the cooker accidentally – for example, while cleaning the panel or brushing against the controls.

COOKER WILL NOT STOP

The same principle applies when you want to stop or cancel a cooking programme.

Simply tapping the CANCEL button may not cancel the programme.

Instead:

Press and hold the CANCEL button.

Continue holding it until the cooker registers the command and cancels the current cooking cycle.
