How is the Kumo inner bowl heated?
Kumo uses a conventional heating element positioned at the bottom of the cooker, but it is enhanced with our 3D heating technology to provide a more even and consistent cooking environment.
Unlike a basic conventional rice cooker, where heat is concentrated primarily beneath the inner bowl, Kumo is designed to distribute heat around and above the cooking bowl as well.
How Kumo's 3D Heating Works
The primary heating element is located beneath the inner bowl. When it operates, heat is generated from the base and then dispersed around the bowl through a reflective heat-distribution coating on the inside of the cooker body.
At the same time, additional heat is applied from the lid, directing heat downwards into the upper part of the inner bowl.
This creates a more balanced heating environment:
Bottom heating element → heat around the bowl → heat from the lid → more even cooking
Rather than relying solely on heat from underneath, Kumo's 3D heating system helps surround the cooking bowl with heat.
Why Is Even Heating Important?
Consistent heat distribution is particularly important when cooking rice.
If heat is concentrated in one area, the rice closest to the heating element can experience different cooking conditions from the rice further away. Kumo's 3D heating system is designed to reduce these differences and provide more uniform cooking throughout the bowl.
This is also beneficial when preparing other foods using Kumo's multi-cooking functions.
3D Heating and Keep Warm
Kumo's 3D heating technology also contributes to its superior Keep Warm performance.
Once cooking has finished, Kumo is designed to maintain an appropriate temperature throughout the cooking bowl, helping to keep rice at a suitable serving temperature while reducing uneven temperature distribution.
This is particularly useful when rice needs to remain warm for later serving rather than being eaten immediately after the cooking cycle has finished.
Conventional Heating Doesn't Mean Basic Heating
Although Kumo uses a conventional heating element rather than Induction Heating (IH), its heating system is considerably more sophisticated than a simple bottom-heated rice cooker.
