How does Kotori cook the rice, is it boiled?

Does Kotori Simply Boil the Rice?

No! Kotori does not simply boil rice.

Although Kotori is a compact rice cooker, it uses Advanced Fuzzy Logic technology to control the cooking process intelligently. Rather than simply heating water until it boils and then switching off, Kotori uses a carefully calibrated seven-phase cooking process, adjusting the temperature and cooking conditions throughout the cycle.

This multi-stage approach is designed to help produce consistently well-cooked, great-tasting rice while helping to retain the rice's natural qualities.

Kotori's 7-Phase Rice Cooking Process

The cooking process consists of:

  1. Preheat – Gently brings the rice and water to the optimum starting temperature.

  2. Absorb Water – Allows the rice to begin absorbing water in preparation for cooking.

  3. Heating – Gradually increases the temperature as the cooking process progresses.

  4. Boiling – Brings the contents to the required boiling temperature to cook the rice thoroughly.

  5. Braising – Carefully controls the heat to allow the rice to continue cooking and develop its desired texture.

  6. Absorb Water – Allows the remaining moisture to be absorbed into the rice, helping achieve the correct final consistency.

  7. Keep Warm – Once cooking is complete, Kotori transitions into Keep Warm to maintain the rice at a suitable serving temperature.

Why Use Multiple Cooking Phases?

Rice changes considerably throughout the cooking process. Simply boiling rice doesn't provide the same level of control over temperature, water absorption and cooking time.

Kotori's Advanced Fuzzy Logic system allows the cooker to manage these different stages automatically. By controlling the temperature at different points in the cooking cycle, Kotori can create the conditions needed for different types of rice to cook properly.

This is particularly important when cooking different varieties, such as white rice, brown rice and short-grain/sushi rice, which don't all behave in exactly the same way.

It's this combination of intelligent temperature control, multiple cooking phases and carefully calibrated cooking programmes that helps Kotori produce consistently excellent rice.

Small Cooker, Sophisticated Cooking

Kotori may be designed for individual portions and compact kitchens, but its cooking technology is anything but basic.

It doesn't simply boil your rice – it intelligently manages the entire cooking process from preheating through to Keep Warm.

That's the difference between a basic rice cooker and an Advanced Fuzzy Logic rice cooker like Kotori.
