Does Kotori have a timer?

No. Kotori does not have a preset timer.

This was a deliberate design decision rather than an omission.

Kotori is a compact, small-capacity donburi cooker specifically designed for rapid meal preparation, convenience and one-pot cooking. Because of its small cooking capacity and the types of meals it is designed to prepare, we found that a preset timer would offer very little practical benefit.

Why Doesn't Kotori Have a Preset Timer?

Preset timers are particularly useful on larger rice cookers when you want to prepare rice in advance – for example, setting the cooker before going to bed so that freshly cooked rice is ready for breakfast, or setting it in the morning for dinner.

Kotori is different.

It has been designed around the concept of quick, convenient, one-pot meals. The idea is that you add your ingredients, select the appropriate cooking function and have a complete meal prepared without needing to plan hours ahead.

Because Kotori has such a small cooking capacity, advance timer cooking simply isn't as useful for the way the cooker is intended to be used.

Adding a preset timer would also have increased the complexity of the appliance without providing a meaningful benefit for most Kotori users.

Designed for Rapid Meal Preparation

Kotori is a donburi-style cooker, designed around the Japanese concept of preparing a complete meal in one bowl.

Rather than being primarily focused on preparing a large quantity of rice in advance, Kotori is intended for fresh, quick and convenient meals.

Think:

Add ingredients → select your programme → cook → eat.

This makes Kotori particularly suited to individuals or couples who want a compact appliance for preparing freshly cooked rice dishes and one-pot meals without the size or complexity of a conventional full-sized rice cooker.

So while Kotori doesn't have a preset timer, this is very much by design.

We chose to concentrate on the features that are genuinely useful for Kotori's intended purpose, keeping the cooker compact, straightforward and focused on what it does best: rapidly preparing delicious one-pot meals.
